Mt. Palgong’s trail and five other spots in Daegu were selected as “must-visit” places this autumn!

Mt. Palgong’s trail and five other spots in Daegu were selected as “must-visit” places this autumn by the Korea Tourism Organization.

This is the second time the Daegu region was picked as the KTO’s favorite, following the Daegu Arboretum and little allies in the city center being picked as roads to visit in September.

The “Mt. Palgong Olle” (trail) first opened with a two-hour course to Bukjijang Temple in June 2009. It grew into eight courses featuring an additional 11 kilometer - “Road to Hansilgol,” 9.8 kilometer - “Buin Temple trail,” 7.5 kilometer - “Pyeonggwang-dong Wanggeon trail,” 6.8 kilometer - “Road to Dansanji,” 8.17 kilometer - “Road to Pokpogol,” and 7.1 kilometer - “Sutaeji Valley.” Each course takes three to four to complete on foot and all are replete with interesting scenery.

“Palgong Olle with its old trail, agricultural trails and others has a unique charm,” the KTO said. “You can meet local people selling their products on the way,” it added.

“This is the first time a single city’s attractions have been selected by the KTO since 2004. We hope the selection goes some way to attracting more tourists to the area,” said Kim Yeun-su, Daegu’s vice mayor of administrative affairs.
