Daegu Art Museum, Exhibition by the ‘artist of charcoal’, Lee, Bae

Abundant autumn with high sky and fresh winds has started in Daegu, Korea.

Welcoming the autumn, we have news that Daegu Art Museum opens a notable exhibition.

The exhibition by the global author, Lee, Bae who is from Daegu will be held at Daegu Art Museum from September 16 to January 25, next year. 

Author Lee, Bae is born in Cheongdo, Gyeongbuk and went to Paris, France in 1989 and he is currently active in Paris, New York, and Korea.

Whole second floor of Daegu Art Museum will be displayed with his 50 major works from 1990s up to present.

Title: Lake Flowing Towards Sky
Period: September 16, 2014 (Tuesday) ~ January 25, 2015 (Sunday), for 129days
Venue: Daegu Art Museum 2, 3, 4, 5 exhibition halls, Sunken Garden (approximately 2300m2)
Admission Fee: Adult 3,000 won / Teenagers 2,000 won / Elementary 1,400 won

Author Lee, Bae is a Korea’s representative artist who won a National Museum of Contemporary Art’s ‘This Year’s Author Award’ in 2000, Paris Korea Cultural Center author’s award in 2009, Korea Fine Arts Critics Association author’s award in 2013, and more.

He is famous for using charcoal on canvass instead of a watercolor or establishing works with charcoals.




He started to buy and draw with charcoal to economize the expenses on drawing materials during the time he was economically difficult.
As he has been working using charcoal since then for nearly 30 years, he is broadened his range as an artist.
