Gachang Jjinbbang St.

Before we are heading for our lunch, let’s stop by at Gachang Jjinbbang St.! Who would resist a nice snack on a road? The first jjinbbang(steamed bun with sweet bean paste) store opened on this street in 2000 and now there are more than 10 stores on this 500 meter long street. Gachang Jjinbbang is one of the top 3 things people would come to their mind when they think of Gachang. Jjinbbang itself is a signature Korean winter snack. Just boiling steam over pots can make us drool:P Store also sells dumplings if you are a mandoo fan! I’d definitely recommend you to try original Jjinbbang. You can ask a clerk to give you “jjinbbang” One portion has usually 5 jjinbbangs in it. Feel free to stuff yourself with this sweet by taking one portion by yourself or share it with your friends if you are leaning more toward to dessert at our next destination!

Cachang Cafe

Many cafes are located here and there on the road in Gachang. Among them, I’d like to introduce you “L’USINE” where you can enjoy a nice cup of espresso! If you are not a caffeine person, you can enjoy their aid, herbal tea, smoothie, etc. They are also known for their bakery menu such as croissant, tiramisu, and carrot cake. If you’d like to stay outside and enjoy the nature view, you can go up to their rooftop terrace. One thing people love about this café is their brown and black interior and ulterior that fits harmoniously with nature around it.

Cheongdo Wine Tunnel

Now off to Cheongdo Wine Tunnel! If you like Korean reality TV shows, you might recognize this place. Since it was aired on 1 Night and 2 Days in 2016, more people come here to enjoy Cheongdo’s unique wine made with persimmon. Cheongdo has a lot of persimmon trees. People even make detour to see persimmon farms when they are around the area in autumn. This is one of the most popular fruits in Korea, especially among older generation who has fond memories about picking them off from tree in falls. This is a rare opportunity to taste this special wine!

Cheongdo Ongchigi

After all fun time we had today, we deserve a nice dinner! Let’s head over to Cheongdo Market(청도시장) to get a famous jjimdak “Ongchigi” This place is famous for its soy sauce based jjimdak. There is only one menu here: Ongchigi! It comes in 3 size-small(22,000won) medium(32,000won) and large(42,000won). Approximately, small can serve two people, medium 3, and large 4 people. A secret to enjoy this dish is to eat it with kimbab or mix rice with the sauce! Many people claim that sweet and spicy flavor is very addictive. If you are not good at handling spiciness, you can level down it when you order.
