February 28 Democratic Movement is a national holiday as of today! Today in Daegu, president Moon, politicians and citizens gathered to celebrate this monumental day. February 28 Movement is probably familiar to many tourists for its memorial park called “228 Park” located in downtown.

This park was built to commemorate the sacrifice and significance of this movement that took place in Daegu in 1960 that set the beginning of series of democratic movements including April 19 Revolution. This movement is especially meaningful in that it was led by high school students.



It is a popular spot to meet-up and chill. The space is also used for many event hosted or sponsored by city. So, when you hit the downtown, come by to feel the energy of the city!


Moving to Myeongdeok Station, one station from Banwoldang, is located The Memorial Hall of the 2.28 Movement for Democracy where you can learn Korea’s effort in democracy in 20th century. The first floor is an exhibition room for the movement and 2nd and 3rd floors are used for library.
