Don't you want to know about the history of Daegu? Travel to the Korean modern times at Hyangchon Cultural Center


We can meet and experience a romantic story of Hyangchon-dong in 1950s at Hyangchon Cultural Center. It Invites you to the beautiful place of meeting and exchange connecting between times and generations. This place is meaningful because it is said to be the birth place of Daegu’s pop culture.




The cultural center is located at the place of old Sunnam Commercial Bank, which was the first private bank of Daegu. Sunnam Commercial Bank was established by a Japanese Ogura Takenosuke in 1912. It operated as Daegu Branch of Korea Commercial Bank after merger with Josen commercial bank.
In 2014, the building was renovated as an exhibition and cultural center to preserve the original central area of Daegu.





Figures of old Hyangchon-dong with the theme ‘Walking around Hyangchon.’ Old Jungang-ro’, ‘tools alley in Bukseong-ro’, ‘Daegu Station’, ‘Gyodong Market’ and more has been reproduced as they were.




Also figures of old shops, movie posters, old Korea restaurant with Pajeon(Korean food which is similar with pancake), and more reproduced with the theme, ‘Remembering Hyang Chon’.

▷ How to go to Hyangchon Cultural Center?
- 5 mins walk from exit No. 4 of Jungang-ro Station, Subway Line 1
- If you take a taxi from Dongdaegu Station, it will take you about 15 mins and cost about 6,000 won.
