Bell Ringing Ceremony 2017 in Korea(Daegu) and Olympic Torch Relay

Begin the New Year with Daegu!
Sound of hope spreading throughout Korea

Way back in Chosun Dynasty in 1394, Korea started to ring Bosingak Bell twice a day to announce the start and end of day. After a day ends, 4 gates in Hanyang, the capital of Korea then, closed and when a day begins with bell ringing, the gates opened again. Today, at the end of each year, Koreans celebrates the end of the year and beginning of a new year with a crowd of people watching bell ringing 33 times! Last year in Daegu’s Bell Ringing Ceremony 30,000 people came out. This year, people are more excited since the Olympic Torch Relay continues in Daegu at the very ceremony! The event starts at 22:00 with concerts!
